Brum teen spends week in India restoring people’s sight

A teenager has spent a week helping with eye operations in an Indian hospital – and has set up a charity to aid more people.

Vikram Thakur, 16, from Solihull, spent a week in a rural village near Raipur assisting his mother, Uma Thakur, an ophthalmologist at Kidderminster Hospital, with the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts.
