Brum teen spends week in India restoring people’s sight

A teenager has spent a week helping with eye operations in an Indian hospital – and has set up a charity to aid more people.

Vikram Thakur, 16, from Solihull, spent a week in a rural village near Raipur assisting his mother, Uma Thakur, an ophthalmologist at Kidderminster Hospital, with the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts.

Working with local charities

Uma worked with local charity to buy eye care equipment for the hospital, See the new cutting from local news paper.  “League of Friends” volunteer Miriam Relins with chairman Dianne Robinson and vice chairman June McCann with Uma Thakur, associate specialist in ophthalmology at Warwick Hospital, and the PASCAL laser.
